Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:75276Linkage analysis was performed on 221 female (BALB/c x NOD/Lt)F1 x BALB/c animals at an average resolution of 15 cM to detect QTLs associated with Mycobacterium bovis-induced systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) subphenotypes, such as hemolytic anemia, antinuclear autoantibodies (ANA), and glomerular immune complex deposition. Parental strain NOD/Lt develops systemic lupus erythematosus phenotypes (susceptible) whereas parental strain BALB/c does not (resistant). Four major loci linked to Mycobacterium bovis-induced systemic lupus erythematosus map to mouse Chromosomes 1 (Mbis1), 10 (Mbis2), 16 (Mbis3), and 17 (Mbis4). Mbis1 maps from 45 cM (D1Mit12) to 70 cM (D1Mit399) on mouse Chromosome 1. This locus affects autoantibody production (LOD=4.5) and ANA (suggestive linkage) at D1Mit398. NOD/Lt-derived alleles confer recessively inherited susceptibility at Mbis1.Mbis2 maps from 0 cM (D10Mit213) to 22 cM (D10Mit257) on mouse Chromosome 10. This locus is associated with ANA (LOD=4.9) and autoantibody production (suggestive linkage) at D10Mit213. BALB/c-derived alleles confer dominantly-inherited susceptibility at Mbis2.Mbis3 maps from 27 cM to 49 cM (D15Mit5) on mouse Chromosome 16. This locus is associated with hemolytic anemia (LOD=3.9) and autoantibodyproduction (suggestive linkage) at D15Mit58. BALB/c-derived alleles confer susceptibility at Mbis3.Mbis4 maps from 0 cM (D17Mit83) to 27 cM (D17Mit153) on mouse Chromosome 17. This locus is linked to hemolytic anemia (LOD=4.8), ANA (LOD>4), and autoantibody production (LOD=9.6) at D17Mit83. NOD/Lt-derived alleles confer recessively-inherited susceptibility at Mbis4.No QTLs associated with glomerular immune complex deposition were identified in this study. |
