Mutation details: Exon 1 of this gene as well as the entire VpreB1 gene were replaced with a neomycin resistance gene flanked by loxP sites. mRNA transcripts of this gene were not detected by Northern blot analysis but small amounts of a truncated product containing sliced exons 2 and 3 could be detected by PCR. No protein product was predicted from this mRNA. All mRNA product could be eliminated by cre mediated excision of the neomycin insert but this had no ultimate effect on the observed phenotypes.
