Mutation details: A cassette containing lacZ and neo was inserted just downstream of the start codon in exon 1, such that the first 4 codons, which encode the signal peptide, were left intact. Protein was undetected in brain tissue of homozygous mutant mice by Western blot analysis using an antibody targeted against the endogenous extracellular domain. LacZ expression was verified by X-gal staining.
