Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:66233

QTL effecting body weight, obesity and muscle weight were found on mouse Chromosomes 1, 4, 5, 7, 11, 12, 13, and 17 and for leptin on 14 and insulin on chromosome 4. The cross used in the genome wide scan included approximately 400 F2 mice from a (DU6i xDBA/2)F1 intercross. DU6i is a strain selected for high body weight. 93 microsatellite markers were analyzed in the genome wide scan.

Locations of the QTLs were provided by the authors and may not be equivalent to the closest microsatellites. Abdominalfat percent QTL 5, molecular weight of quadriceps QTL 2, abdominal fat weight QTL 5, body weight QTL 16, spleen weight QTL 1, body weight QTL 4 and molecular weight of quadriceps QTL 3 were mapped to mouse Chromosome 11 to cM positions 9, 10, 12, 14, 39,55, and 59 respectively.

10.03.2014 - Curator Note: We had originally associated the abdominal fat weight QTL 5 identified here, mapping to 12cM on mouse Chr 11, as Afw5. Afw5 was originally mapped using a different cross, an outbred cross of DU6 xDUK, inJ:49578 in 1998. We consider the current mapping study a separate mapping experiment and have named the QTL identified here as Afw17.

01.07.2015 - Curator Note: We had originally associated the body weight QTL 4 identified here, mapping to 55cM on Chr11as Bw4. Bw4 was originally mapped using a different cross, an outbred cross of DU6 x DUK, in J:49578, in 1998. We consider the current mapping study a separate mapping experiment and have named the QTL identified here as Bw35.

04.28.2015 - Curator Note: We had orginally associated the spleen weight QTL 1 identified here, mapping to 55 cM , as Swq1. Swq1 was orignially mapped using a different cross, an outbred cross of DU6 x DUK, in J:49578, in 1998. We consider the current mapping study a separate mapping experiment and have named the QTL identified here as Swq7.
