Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:85818

Linkage analysis was performed on 289 (129S6/SvEvTac x C57BL/6J)F2 animals to identify QTLs associated with locomotor activity. Parental strain 129S6/SvEvTac typically exhibits lower locomotor activity compared to parental strain C57BL/6J. QTLs linked torearing, rotarod performance, distance traveled, speed, and duration of locomotor activity mapped to several mouse Chromosomes.

Loci associated with rotarod performance mapped to 92.3 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 (Rrodp1) and to 74 cM on mouse Chromosome 2 (Rrodp2). Rrodp1 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.17 near D1Mit270 for day 3 performance on the rotarod. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased rotarod performance at Rrodp1. Rrodp2 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.52 near D2Mit224 for day 2 rotarod performance. 129S6/SvEvTac-derived alleles confer increased rotarod performance at Rrodp2.

Loci associated with rearing mapped to 65.3 cM on mouse Chromosome 6 (Rear1) and to 16 cM on mouse Chromosome 12 (Rear2). Rear1 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.54 near D6Mit9. Rear2 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.87 near D12Mit46. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased rearing time at both Rear1 and Rear2.

Loci associated with duration of locomotor activity mapped to 84.2 cM on mouse Chromosome 2 (Dloc1) and to 47 cM on mouse Chromosome 18 (Dloc2). Dloc1 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.59 near D2Mit343. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased duration of locomotor activity at Dloc1. Dloc2 gives peak linkage with LOD=3.41 near D18Mit210. 129S6/SvEvTac-derived alleles confer increased duration of locomotor activity at Dloc2.

A locus at 54 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 is associated with horizontal distance traveled and is named Hdis. Hdis gives peak linkage with LOD=4.11 near D1Mit48. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased distance traveled with additive inheritance at Hdis.

A locus on mouse Chromosome 12 at 37 cM is associated with multiple locomotor activity traits and is named Loca1. Peak linkage to ambulatory speed, horizontal distance traveled, and rearing phenotypes occurs at D12Mit14 with LOD=5.5, LOD=3.65, and LOD=3.72, respectively. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased activity for all phenotypes at Loca1 with additive inheritance.

A locus on mouse Chromosome 16 at 3.4 cM is associated with multiple locomotoractivity traits and is named Loca2. Peak linkage to duration of locomotor activity, horizontal distance traveled, and time spent in motion occurs at D16Mit182 with LOD=3.46, LOD=3.48, and LOD=3.63, respectively. 129S6/SvEvTac-derived alleles confer increased activity for all phenotypes at Loca2.
