Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:76108

44 animals from an (ALS/Lt x ALR/Lt)F1 x ALS/Lt backcross were genotyped at 68 polymorphic loci to identify QTLs associated with resistance to oxidative stress. Parental strain ALS/Lt is susceptible to oxidative stress where as parental strain ALR/Lt is resistant to oxidative stress and exhibits a suppressed neutrophil superoxide burst.

A locus named Susp (suppressor of superoxide production) mapped to approximately 33 cM on mouse Chromosome 3 with P < 0.0001 at D3Mit241. The QTL interval of Susp spans25 cM - 45 cM. ALR/Lt-derived alleles confer reduced superoxide production at Susp in a codominant manner. Possible candidate genes mapping to the Susp interval are Etfdh, Rap1a, Il12a, Il6ra, and Arnt.
