The difference in the response to LPS (lipopolysaccharide) exhibited between C57BL/6J and A/J mice allowed for the mapping of QTls in AXB/BXA Recombinant Inbred strains. Four provisional modifers of the LPS response were mapped to mouse Chromosomes 1, 7, 11, and 13. Mol3 was localized to a 22 cM region flanked by markers D13Mit254 and D13Mit53.
