Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:73060Composite interval mapping (CIM) was used for localization of QTL involved in modulating response to infection with Borrelia burgdorferi. Parental strains C3H/HeN and C3H/HeJ are susceptible to B.burgdorferi-induced arthritis whereas parental strains C57BL/6N and BALB/cAnN are resistant. Four different backcrosses and the reanalysis of a previous intercross were performed. A novel QTL, Bbaa20, was identified in the (C3H/HeJ X BALB/cAnN)F1 X BALB/cAnN backcross on Chr 6. Bbaa20 was linked to IgG levels after infection with B.burgdorferi. It mapped from 30.5 - 38.5 cM between markers D6Mit16 and D6Mit102, LRT=18.9 accounting for 14.8% variance. The reanalysis of the (C57BL/6N X C3H/HeN)F2 intercross also confirmed the previously identified Bbaa5 QTL on Chr 6. Using CIM Bbaa5 linked to specific IgM, at 71.6 cM with marker D6Mit200, LRT=24.4 and total IgM from 43.0 -67.0 cM between marker D6Mit230 and D6Mit59, LRT=29.2. [Table 3.]C3H/HeN-derived alleles are associated with increased arthritis susceptibility and severity at all QTL mapped in this experiment. |
