Mutation details: A sequence fragment encompassing the majority of exon 4 and a portion of the following intron was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. The deleted region encoded amino acids 60 through 91, which have been previously implicated in protein structure and dimerization. Northern and Western blots of a variety of tissues indicated an absence of both transcript and protein in homozygous mutant mice.
