B10 congenic and inbred strains were analyzed for genetic control of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) and scrapie incubation time. Two of thirteen B10 congenic strains exhibited short incubation times for CDJ that coincided with the inheritance of the q allele of the H-2D region. These data suggest that a locus controlling incubation time, Pid-1, may map to the H-2D region of Chromosome 17.
