Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:75743Three different backcross populations were typed at over 80 polymorphic loci to identify QTLs associated with skin tumor susceptibility. All inbred strains used in this study carry a transgene overexpressing Odc in skin cells. These transgenic animals are especially sensitive to developing spontaneous skin tumors. In the (C3H/HeJ x C57BL/6J)F1 x C57BL/6J backcross population a significant QTL named Moo1 (modifier of Odc 1) mapped to 23.2 cM on mouse Chromosome 17 with peak linkage between D17Mit30 (LOD=6.34) and D17Mit49 (LOD=6.49). The QTL range of Moo1 spans from 1.5 cM (D17Mit43) to 33.5 cM (D17Mit274) on mouse Chromosome 17. C3H/HeJ-derived alleles confer dominantly inherited resistance to skin tumor development (decreased tumor multiplicity) at Moo1. Skts10 is a previously identified skin tumor QTL mapping near Moo1. A suggestive skin tumor locus mapped to 42.6 cM on mouse Chromosome 7 with peak linkage at D7Mit62 (LOD=2.24).In the (FVB/NTac x C57BL/6J)F1 x C57BL/6J backcross population suggestive loci associated with tumor multiplicity mapped to 52 cM - 67 cM on mouse Chromosome 2 with peak linkage at D2Mit304 (LOD=1.53), and to 38 cM - 48 cM on mouse Chromosome 12 with peak linkage at D12Mit211 (LOD=1.7). FVB/NTac-derived alleles confer partially dominant resistance to skin tumor development at these loci.In the (FVB/NTac x C57BL/6J)F1 x FVB/NTac backcross population suggestive loci associated with tumor predisposition mapped to 16 cM on mouse Chromosome 7 near D7Mit309 (LOD=1.95) and to 84.9 cM on mouse Chromosome 3 near D3Mit129 (LOD=1.73). |
