Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

Quantitative Trait linkage analysis of stem cell frequency in BXD RI strains was informative in mapping Scfr3 to mouse Chromosome 18. DBA/2J mice had threefold higher CAFC (cobblestone area-forming cell) day 35 frequencies than C57BL/6J mice. A genome wide scan using BXD RI strains showed a statistical significant correlation of the gene controlling stem cell frequency with D18Ncvs22 on mouse Chromosome 18. The location of the gene controlling stem cell frequency reported here differs from a previously reported Quantitative Trait linkage analysis (J:32090, Muller-Sieburg CE; Riblet R, Genetic control of the frequncy of hematopoietic stem cells in mice: mapping of a candidate locus to Chromosome 1., J Exp Med 1996 Mar 1; 183(3):1141-50) in which this samephenotype was shown mapping with loci on mouse Chromosome 1.
