Mutation details: Crossing with mice ubiquitously expressing Cre recombinase, floxed exon 3 and a 3' neo were excised in the germ line. Exon 3 encodes the first transmembrane domain. PCR of testicular cDNA indicated that mutants expressed only a truncated transcript, shown by sequencing to be the result of the 311 deleted nucleotides from the targeted exon.
