Notes |
Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:92924(NC/JicJcl X 129X1/SvJMs) F1 x NC/JicJcl backcross mice were informative in mapping QTL Pymr (Plasmodium yoelli malaria resistance) to mouse Chromosome 9. Seventy six [76] polymorphic markers at an average spacing of 20 cM were used for the genome scan. The 129X1/SvJMs-derived allele at Pymr confers resistance to P. yoelli with a dominant mode of inheritance. Parental strain 129X1/SvJMs is resistant to infection with P. yoelli where as parental strain NC/JicJcl is susceptible. The host resistance locuswas designated Pymr for P. yoelii malaria resistance locus. It mapped to the telomeric portion of mouse Chr 9 between D9Mit10 and D9Mit20. The region contains three potential candidate genes: Tfr (transferrin), Cish (cytokine-inducible SH-2 containingprotein) and Cmkbr4 (chemokine receptor 4).The mapped position of Pymr is homologous to the human chromosome syntenic region 3q24-26. |
