Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Humanized sequence, Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(ZP2)2Dean expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgene consists of a 16.3 kb human genomic DNA fragment containing all 19 exons of the zona pellucida 2 gene and 2.3 kb of 5' flanking DNA. Northern blot analysis and in situ hybridization of ovarian tissue demonstrated oocyte-specific transgene expression. Immunoblot analysis revealed coexpression of mouse and human ZP2 in oocytes. The molecular mass of the transgenic protein suggests it undergoes post-translational modification similarly to the native human protein. (J:93482)

Notes
3 transgenic lines, designated by the authors TgN(HuZP2)1NIH-3NIH, were generated. All three lines were used in experiments, and no distinction was made among their phenotypes.
