Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:94028

Linkage analysis was performed on 439 pregnant female animals from a (M16i x L6)F2 intercross to identify QTLs associated with reproductive traits. Parental strain M16i exhibits a higher ovulation rate and higher number of live fetuses at 10 weeks of gestation compared to L6, but parental strain L6 exhibits increased total fetal survival rate compared to M16i.

On mouse Chromosome 10, linkage to preimplantation embryo survival, live fetuses, and total embryo survival mapped between markers D10Mit65 and D10Mit35a. Peak linkage for preimplantation embryo survival, Espq3, occurs at 48.9 cM (LOD=5.5). The QTL interval of Espq3 spans 28.5 cM - 55.9 cM. Peak linkage to live fetuses, Lfq3, occurs at 50.2 cM (LOD=3.7 cM). The QTL interval of Lfq3 spans 26.5 cM -58.5 cM. Peak linkage to total embryo survival, Estoq3, occurs at 52.7 cM (LOD=4.8). A previously identified locus for litter size around 56 cM on chromosome 10 maps near Lfq3 (Collins, 1993). The QTL interval of Estoq3 spans 32.5 cM - 58.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer additively inherited increased preimplantation embryo survival at Espq3, increased number of live fetuses at Lfq3, and increased total embryo survival at Estoq3.
