Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:93737

Linkage analysis was performed on 222 female animals from a (NZB/BlNJ x BALB/cByJ)F2 intercross to identify QTLs associated with susceptibility to autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AHA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). 96 polymorphic markers at an average spacing of 17 cM were used in the genome scan. Parental strain NZB/BlNJ is susceptible to autoimmune hemolytic anemia and exhibits elevated serum levels of anti-red blood cell antibodies compared to BALB/cByJ. NZB/BlNJ is also susceptible to systemic lupus erythematosus and exhibits elevated serum levels of antinuclear antibodies compared to parental strain BALB/cByJ.

On mouse Chromosome 4 several linkages to anti-red blood cell IgG antibody production at 8 months of age were detected. Arigg2 (anti-RBC IgG antibodies 2) mapped to 6.1 cM - 7.2 cM (P=7.8 x 10-3), Arigg3 mapped to 47.8 cM (2.4 x 10-4), and Arigg4 mapped to 59.9 cM (P=1.8 x 10-4). A locus associated with anti-red blood cell IgG antibody production at 10 months of age mapped to 64.6 cM and is named Arigg5. NZB/BlNJ-derived alleles confer increased IgG antibodies at all chromosome 4 loci. A previously identified autoimmune locus named Aem1 maps near Arigg2. Previously identified autoimmune loci Aia1 (75 cM) and Lbw2 (55.6 cM) map near Arigg4 and Arigg5.
