Notes

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:93737

Linkage analysis was performed on 222 female animals from a (NZB/BlNJ x BALB/cByJ)F2 intercross to identify QTLs associated with susceptibility to autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AHA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). 96 polymorphic markers at an average spacing of 17 cM were used in the genome scan. Parental strain NZB/BlNJ is susceptible to autoimmune hemolytic anemia and exhibits elevated serum levels of anti-red blood cell antibodies compared to BALB/cByJ. NZB/BlNJ is also susceptible to systemic lupus erythematosus and exhibits elevated serum levels of antinuclear antibodies compared to parental strain BALB/cByJ.

On mouse Chromosome 12, linkage to anti-red blood cell IgM antibodies at 6 months of age mapped to 1 cM (P=4.5 x 10-3). This locus is named Arigm5 (anti-RBC IgM antibodies 5). Linkage to anti-red blood cell IgM antibodies at 8 months of age also mapped to 1 cM (P=7.8 x 10-4). This locus is named Arigm6. NZB/BlNJ-derived alleles confer increased IgM antibodies at Arigm5 and Arigm6.
