This allele may be consistent with a recessive or additive mode of inheritance.
Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days asan indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. On mouse Chromosome 1, a QTL linked to body weight at 3 weeks of age named W3q13 mapped to 32.9 cM. The W3q13 interval spans 23 cM - 41 cM and is flanked by markers D1Mit120 and D1Mit180 (LOD=4). This locus explains 1.9% of the variance. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight with dominant inheritance at W3q13. An interval between D1Mit180 and D1Mit72 contains QTLs W3q12 (LOD=4.2), Lgq5 (LOD=3.6), W10q6 (LOD=9.7), and W6q14 (LOD=4.1). W3q12 peaks at 51.3 cM and the 1 LOD confidence interval spans 41 cM - 67.4 cM.M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 3 weeks of age with dominant inheritance at W3q12. This locus explains 1.5% of the variance. Lgq5 peaks at 53.7 cM and the 1 LOD confidence interval spans 32.9 cM - 70 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased late growth at Lgq5 with recessive inheritance. This locus explains 2.4% of the variance. W10q6 peaks at 56.3 cM and the 1 LOD confidence interval spans 48.7 cM - 66.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 10 weeks of age with additive inheritance. This locus explains 3.9% of the variance. W6q14 peaks at 61.4 cM and the 1 LOD confidence interval spans 46.1 cM - 77.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 6 weeks of age with dominant or additive inheritance. This locus explains 1.5% of the variance. W10q7 maps to an interval between D1Mit72 and D1Mit200 with the peak at 72.6 cM (LOD=9.1). The 1 LOD confidence interval spans 66.5 cM - 79 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 10 weeks of age with recessive or additive inheritance. This locus explains 3% of the variance.Lgq4 and Lgaq3 map to an interval between D1Mit200 and D1Mit223. Lgq4 peaks at 92.3 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased late growth with recessive or additive inheritance. This locus explains 2.9% of the variance. Lgaq3 peaks at 95.9 cM (LOD=4.5). M16i-derived alleles confer increased late growth adjusted for weight at 6 weeks with recessive inheritance. This locus explains 3.2% of the variance. |
