Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days asan indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. On mouse Chromosome 6, an interval between D6Mit138 and D6Mit132 contains QTLs Egq8 (LOD=5.2), W6q4 (LOD=12.1), W3q3 (LOD=10.1), and W10q11 (LOD=7.9). The 1 LOD confidence interval of Egq8 spans 16.9 cM - 40 cM and peaks at 25.4 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq8 confer increased early growth with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 5.3% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval of W6q4 spans 21.6 cM - 36.3 cM and peaks at 27 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q4 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks of age with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 11% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval of W3q3 spans 20.8 cM - 49 cM and peaks at 28.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W3q3 confer increased body weight at 3 weeks of age with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 5.5% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval of W10q11 spans 20 cM - 47.2 cM and peaks at 28.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W10q11 confer increased body weight at 10 weeks of age with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 8% of the variance.W6q5 and Egq11 map to an interval between D6Mit132 and D6Mit201. W6q5 peaks at 49.5 cM and Egq11 peaks at 51.2 cM. The 1 LOD confidence interval of W6q5 spans 39.3 cM - 55.8 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q5 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks of age with dominant or additive inheritance. This locus explains 6.3% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval of Egq11 spans 40 cM - 61.1 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq11 confer increased early growth with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 3% of the variance. |
