Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days asan indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. An interval on mouse Chromosome 8 between D8Mit4 and D8Mit31 contains QTLs Egq12 (LOD=3.5), W10q14 (LOD=5.2), and W6q9 (LOD=7.6). Egq12 peaks at 24.3 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq12 confer increased early growth with dominant inheritance. This locus explains 1.1% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval for W10q14 spans 19.2 cM - 41.4 cM and peaks at 26.4 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W10q14 confer increased body weight at 10 weeks of age with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 1.3% of the variance. The 1 LOD confidence interval of W6q9 spans 21.2 cM - 43.7 cM and peaks at 28.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q9 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks of age with additive or dominant inheritance. This locus explains 2.1% of the variance. W3q5 maps to 36.6 cM on mouse Chromosome 8 between D8Mit31 and D8Mit121 (LOD=6.4). The 1 LOD confidence interval of W3q5 spans 24.3 cM - 47.3 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 3 weeks of age with dominant or additive inheritance. This locus explains 1.9% of the variance. |
