Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days as an indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. On mouse Chromosome 10, an interval between D10Mit1 and D10Mit65 contains QTLs W3q11 (LOD=5), Egq7 (LOD=6.4), W6q6 (LOD=10.2), and W10q5 (LOD=10.2). W3q11 peaks at 25.8 cM and the QTL interval spans from 12 cM - 39.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W3q11 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks with a dominant mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.4% of the variance. Egq7 peaks at 27.7 cM and the QTL interval spans from 17.8 cM - 39.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq7 confer increased early growth with a recessive or additivemode of inheritance. This locus explains 4.6% of the variance. W6q6 peaks at 29.7 cM and the QTL interval spans from 22.8 cM - 40.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q6 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 5.4% of the variance. W10q5 peaks at 31.7 cM and the QTL interval spans from 24.8 cM - 42.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles confer increased body weight at 10 weeks with a recessive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 5.3% of the variance. An interval between D10Mit65 and D10Mit35a contains QTLs W10q8 (LOD=8.9), Lgaq5 (LOD=3.4), W6q8 (LOD=9.2), and Egq9 (LOD=5.1). W10q8 peaks at 48.7 cM and the QTL interval spans 45.5 cM - 55.3 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W10q8 confer increased 10 week body weightwith a recessive or additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.8% of the variance. Lgaq5 peaks at 51.4 cM and the QTL interval spans 29.7 cM - 60.6 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Lgaq5 confer increased late growth adjusted for 6 week body weight with a recessive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 3% of the variance. W6q8 peaks at 52.6 cM and the QTL interval spans 45.5 cM - 57.9 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q8 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks with an additive mode of inheritance. Thislocus explains 3% of the variance. Egq9 peaks at 52.6 cM and the QTL interval spans 45.4 cM - 59.8 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq9 confer increased early growth with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.3% of the variance. |
