Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days asan indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. On mouse Chromosome 11, an interval between D11Mit2 and D11Mit4 contains QTLs W3q4 (LOD=9.5), Lgaq1 (LOD=5.3), W10q2 (LOD=26.4), Lgq1 (LOD=5.5), W6q3 (LOD=14.3), Tailq1 (LOD=10.3), and Egq4 (LOD=8.5). W3q4 peaks at 12.6 cM and the QTL interval spans 2.4 cM - 22.8 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W3q4 confer increased 3 week body weight with a dominant or additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 3% of the variance. Lgaq1 peaks at 12.6 cM and M16i-derived alleles confer increased late growth adjusted for 6 week body weight with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.6% of the variance. W10q2 peaks at 17.7 cM and the QTL interval spans 11.3 cM - 24.1 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W10q2 confer increased 10 week body weight with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 8.1% of the variance. Lgq1 peaks at 17.7 cM and M16i-derived alleles confer increased late growth with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.7% of the variance. W6q3 peaks at 20.3 cM and the QTL interval spans 12.6 cM -30.5 cM. M16i-derived alleles at W6q3 confer increased 6 week body weight with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 4.4% of the variance. Tailq1 peaks at 22.8 cM and the QTL interval spans 13.9 cM - 31.8 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Tailq1confer increased tail length with a dominant mode of inheritance. This locus explains 3.8% of the variance. Egq4 peaks at 28 cM and the QTL interval spans 16.5 cM - 43 cM. M16i-derived alleles at Egq4 confer increased early growth with a recessive or additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 2.7% of the variance. |
