Tailaq1 exhibits additive inheritance.
Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:87794More than 1000 animals from an (M16i x L6)F2 intercross were typed for 63 polymorphic markers over 19 autosomes to identify QTLs associated with growth traits. Body weight was measured at 21, 42, and 70 days of age. Tail length was measured at 70 days asan indicator of skeletal growth. Parental strain M16i exhibits high weight gain between 21 and 42 days of age while parental strain L6 exhibits low weight gain. LOD=3.3 was used as the cutoff for statistically significant linkage. An interval on mouse Chromosome 12 between D12Mit5 and D12Mit8 contains QTLs Tailaq1 (LOD=), W6q10 (LOD=), and Egq10 (LOD=). Tailaq1 peaks at 48.8 cM and the QTL spans 44.4 cM - 56.2 cM. L6-derived alleles at Tailaq1 confer increased tail length adjusted for body weight at 6 weeks with an additive mode of inheritance. This locus explains 3.7% of the variance. W6q10 peaks at 53.3 cM and M16i-derived alleles at W6q10 confer increased body weight at 6 weeks of age with a dominant mode of inheritance. This locus explains 1.9% of the variance. Egq10 peaks at 54.8 cM and M16i-derived alleles confer increased early growth with an additive or dominant mode of inheritance. This locus explains 1.5% of the variance. |
