Transgenic mice express human A53T variant alpha-synuclein under the direction of the mouse Thy1 promoter. These mice display axonal degeneration in spinal roots, denervation of neuromuscular junctions, inclusions and reactive gliosis in spinal cord and brainstem, and decrease in rotarod performance after 40 days of age.
