Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:96204

Linkage analysis was performed on 402 animals from a B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund x RIIIS/J)F1 x B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund backcross to identify QTLs associated with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) traits. Parental strain B10.RIII-H2r/SgKljLund is susceptible to developing EAE upon immunization with myelin basic protein (MBP) 89-101 peptide whereas parental strain RIIIS/J is resistant. 150 microsatellite markers were used for the genome scan.

Eae39 mapped to 56 cM on mouse Chromosome 5 near D5Mit41 (LRS=18). (Eae39 is referred to as Eae26 in this article.) RIIIS/J-derived alleles at Eae39 appear to confer EAE resistance in male animals with a dominant mode of inheritance. Previously identified QTLs mapping near Eae39 are Pgia16 (36 cM), Bbaa2 (66 cM), and Bbaa3 (45 cM).
