Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Ins2-OVA)59Wehi expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsMice bearing this transgene express a secreted form of ovalbumin from the full-length chicken ovalbumin cDNA under control of the rat insulin 2 promoter. (J:99451)

Notes
The pancreatic islets of transgenic mice exhibit weak ovalbumin- (OV-) specific immunohistologic staining. Western blot analysis measures the islet OV content as 1.0 +/- 0.4 ng/'ug of protein. These mice develop diabetes following adoptive transfer of activated, but not naive, CD8+ T lymphocytes from mice bearing Tg(TcraTcrb)1100Mjb (OT-1).
