• Mutation details: A targeting vector was designed to insert a PGK-neo in place of exons 8 and 9, two critical exons for the kinase domain containing the catalytic core, including a lysine residue that is essential for ATP binding. Stop codons were inserted downstream of the exon 8 splice acceptor site. Northern blot showed a marked reduction in transcripts in mutant skin. Western blot did not detect protein in mutant mice.
