Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:102035Data from Leamy et al 1999 were reanalyzed to assess loci involved in early and late skull development. The data set includes 535 (LG/J x SM/J)F2 animals. Genome scan was performed with 76 informative markers covering 19 autosomes. Parental strain LG/J exhibits larger body size compared to parental strain SM/J. Early skull development traits phenotyped are cranial vault width, cranial vault height, and cranial vault length. Late skull development traits phenotyped are facial height, width, and length, and zygomatic arch width and length. Loci reaching the 5% significance level are reported below. Loci colocalizing with previously identified QTL from the Leamy et al 1999 study are represented using Skull# symbols. Novel loci are represented by the symbolsSdtq# (skull development trait QTL #). For full descriptions of QTL-trait associations refer to Table 2 of this reference. Most of these loci interact epistatically. On mouse Chromosome 1, early skull development mapped to 110 cM (Skull2). Late skull development mapped to 52 cM (Skull1) and 92 cM (Sdtq1). On mouse Chromosome 2, early skull development mapped to 12 cM (Sdtq2) and late skull development mapped to 0 cM (Stdq3).On mouse Chromosome 3, early and late skull development mapped to 44 cM (Skull4).On mouse Chromosome 4, early and late skull development mapped to 62 cM (Skull6) and late skull development mapped to 36 cM (Skull5).On mouse Chromosome 5, early skull development mapped to 104 cM (Stdq4).On mouse Chromosome 6, early skull development mapped to 30 cM (Skull7), and early and late skull development mapped to 90 cM (Skull8).On mouse Chromosome 7, early skull development mapped to 24 cM (Sdtq5) and 76 cM (Skull10), and late skull development mapped to 58 cM (Skull9).On mouse Chromosome 8, late skull development maps to 18 cM (Sdtq6).On mouse Chromosome 9, early and late skull development map to 46 cM (Skull13) and late skull developme maps to 2 cM (Sdtq7).On mouse Chromosome 10, early skull development map to 22 cM (Sdtq8)and 44 cM (Sdtq9). Late skull development maps to 64 cM (Skull14).On mouse Chromosome 11, early skull development maps to 34 cM (Skull15), and early and late skull development maps to 88 cM (Skull16).On mouse Chromosome 12, early and late skull development map to 8 cM - 30 cM (Skull17) and to 54 cM (Skull18).On mouse Chromosome 13, early skull development maps to 2 cM (Skull19) and late skull development maps to 70 cM (Skull20).On mouse Chromosome 14, early and late skull development map to 32 cM- 51 cM (Skull21).On mouse Chromosome 15, early and late skull development map to 46 cM (Skull22).On mouse Chromosome 17, early and late skull development map to 6 cM - 8 cM (Sdtq10).On mouse Chromosome 19, early skull development maps to 26 cM (Skull26) and late skull development maps to 4 cM (Stdq11). |
