Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:102637

A series of recombinant inbred (RI) strains derived from ILS and ISS were analyzed to identify QTL associated with body weight. Measurements for body weight were taken at 60, 90, 120, and 150 days of age. 361 polymorphic markers spaced approximately 4.5 cM apart were used for the genome scan.

A significant body weight QTL named Wght1 (weight 1) mapped to 78 cM (157.7 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 1 near D1Mit42 (LOD=4.6). This locus interacts with Wght2 on mouse Chromosome 4. ILS-derived alleles at Wght1 in conjunction with ISS-derived alleles at Wght2 confer significantly increased body weight at 60 days of age.

Wght2 mapped to 3.2 cM (9.9 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 4 near D4Mit227 (LOD=4.5), and Wght3 mapped to 52.6 cM (112 Mb) near D4Mit332 (LOD=8.6). Theseloci are associated with body weight at 60 days of age. Wght2 interacts with Wght1 on mouse Chromosome 1.

Wght4 (weight 4) mapped to 73 cM (130.7 cM) on mouse Chromosomes 5 near D5Mit372 (LOD=3.22). This locus is associated with body weight at 60 and 120 days of age.

Wght5 (weight 5) mapped to 75 cM (116.3 Mb) onmouse Chromosome 11 near D11Mit338 (LOD=7.6). This locus is associated with body weight at 60 days of age.

Wght6 (weight 6) mapped to 20 cM (25.6 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 19 near D19Mit86 (LOD=9.4). This locus is associated with body weight at 60 days of age.

Suggestive linkages to body weight at 60 days of age mapped to 57.8 cM (122.2 Mb) on mouse Chromosomes 4 and 75 cM (116.3 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 11.
