Notes

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:15235

In an intraspecific backcross BALB/cAnPt females x (BALB/cAnPt x DBA/2N)F1 males, where BALB/cAnPt is susceptible to plasmacytoma tumors and the F1 hybrid strain is resistant, 83 out of 773 progeny developed tumors suggesting a multiple trait inheritance. The initial 28 progeny tested for Pcts1 showed significant Chi square values with Chromosome 4 markers Ifa, Mtv13 and Nppa; the progeny also being homozygous susceptible BALB/cAnPt. Further analysis of 77 susceptible backcross progeny gave 9 recombinants between Pcts1 and Gt10 suggesting a distance within 11.6 +/- 3.6 cM between the two.

Homozygosity for BALB/cAnPt-derived alleles is associated with sussceptibility to pristane-induced plasmacytomas.
