Notes |
Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:103841Linkage analysis was performed on 513 animals from a (SM/J x NZB/BlNJ)F2 intercross to identify QTL affecting obesity traits. Animals were placed on an atherogenic diet for 16 weeks before phenotyping. Parental strain SM/J exhibits smaller body size but higher adiposity compared to parental strain NZB/BlNJ. On mouse Chromosome 6, Bwtq10 maps to 62 cM near D6Mit259 (LOD=5.3) with the 95% confidence interval spanning approximately 52 cM - 70 cM. NZB/BlNJ-derived alleles at Bwtq10 confer increased lean body weight with an additive mode of inheritance. An obesity locus named Obwq3 maps to 42 cM near D6Mit105 (LOD=5.8) with a 95% confidence interval spanning approximately 30 cM - 66 cM. SM/J-derived alleles at Obwq3 confer increased body weight and increased inguinal and retroperitoneal fat pad weight with a recessive mode of inheritance. Adip2 (43.6 cM) and Obq14 (43.5 cM) are previously identified obesity QTL mapping near Obwq3. |
