Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:5355

Inbred strain C57BL/6By exhibits higher short term exploratory activity compared to inbred strain BALB/cBy. However, this phenotype is reversed when animals are administered scopolomine in that BALB/cBy now exhibits higher short term exploratory activitycompared to C57BL/6By. Analysis of 7 CXB (C=BALB/cBy; B=C57BL/6By) recombinant inbred (RI) strains mapped A QTL named Scom (scopolamine modification of exploratory activity) near the H2 locus at 23 cM on mouse Chromosome 17.

A previously identified QTL named Exa (exploratory activity) mapped to mouse Chromosome 4 in congenic line H(w26) derived from BALB/cBy donor and C57BL/6By recipient strains. The congenic exhibits low exploratory activity similar to the BALB/cBy donor strain, indicating that Exa exhibits decreased exploratory activity when derived from BALB/cBy.
