Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:47082Female animals from 25 BXD (B=C57BL/6J;D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains were mated with (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J)F1 males and the fertilized eggs were subjected to nuclear transplantation to create androgenetic and gynogenetic embryos. The frequency of androgenetic blastocyst formation was measured. Eggs from parental strain C57BL/6J supports a significantly higher rate of androgenetic blastocyst formation compared to eggs from DBA/2J (50% vs 6%). The analysis of the SDPs in the BXD RI lines was informative to show the Egm1 (egg modifier locus 1) phenotype was associated with mouse proximal Chromosome 1 markers D1Hgu1 (2.5 cM) and Ugt1a1-rs1 (5 cM). The QTL interval of Egm1 includes 0 cM - 8.7 cM of mouse Chromosome 1. The following BXD RI strains were DBA/2J-like - 5, 12, 19, 20, 21, and 29, the restwith the exception of strain 13 were C57BL/6J-like. The strain distribution supports a two locus model with another region associated with Chromosome 2 named Egm2 (egg modifier locus 2). |
