Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:108840

155 animals from 34 BXD (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains were analyzed for brain weight and volume. Animals were typed with a panel of 3,795 polymorphic markers to identify loci linked to neocortical volume.

Significant linkage toneocortical brain volume mapped to 13 cM (25.4 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 11 near D11Mit19 (LRS=22.66). This locus is named Brnvl1 (brain volume 1). The 95% confidence interval extends from 20 Mb to 35 Mb. Brnvl1 also shows suggestive linkage to noncorticalbrain volume with LRS=12.31. Otx1 at 12 cM (21.8 Mb) is a potential candidate gene for Brnvl1. Several SNPs between C57BL/6J and DBA/2J are found within Otx1. Suggestive linkage to neocortical volume mapped to 4 cM (6 Mb) - 8.5 cM (11.5 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 16 near D16Mit9 and D16Mit100 (LRS=11.13).

Significant linkage to noncortical brain volume mapped to 5 cM (10 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 19 near D19Mit22 (LRS=17.54). This locus is named Brnvl2 (brain volume 2). Markers flanking this region are D19Mit42 (5 cM; 9.4 Mb) and D19Mit127 (8.7 cM; 12.1 Mb). Cntf at 7 cM is a possible candidate gene for Brnvl2. Suggestive linkage to noncortical brain volume was detected at 49 cM (84.5 Mb) on mouse Chromosome 15 near D15Mit17.
