Mutation details: This allele was created to be a conditional mutant whereas insertion of the targeting vector interrupts expression of the locus and expression of cre recombinase restores the function of the endogenous gene. The vector contains a cassette containing 2 copies of a 605 bp sequence, each containing a splice acceptor and polyA signal, and a hygromycin resistance gene. The cassette was flanked by loxP sites and inserted into intron 6 along with a 555 bp deletion of intronic sequence to facilitate the detection of cre-mediated remoal of the SA2-hyg cassette.
