Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:117547Genetic loci associated with body composition were mapped using 369 animals from a (C57BL/6J x CASA/Rk)F2 intercross. A panel of 255 polymorphic markers at an average spacing of 5.9 cM was used for genome scan. Parental strain C57BL/6J displays decreasedactivity and increased weight, lean tissue mass, abdominal fat mass, body length, bone mineral density (BMD), bone area, and bone mineral content (BMC) compared to parental strain CASA/Rk. Males from C57BL/6J display increased body mass index (BMI) and total body fat tissue mass (FTM) compared to males from CASA/Rk. Linkage to body weight, named Bw28, mapped to 49 cM on mouse Chromosome 13 with LOD=5.09. Linkage to lean body mass, Lbm13, mapped to 49 cM with LOD=3.81. Linkage to bone area mapped to 67 cM (Ba3, LOD=4.3) in both sexes and to 63 cM (Ba6, LOD=3.9) in females only. Linkage to bone mineral content mapped to 45 cM (Bmc5, LOD=5.31) in both sexes and to 61 cM (Bmc10, LOD=3.78) in females. Bone mineral density, Bmd30, mapped to 47 cM with LOD=5.21. |
