Mutation details: A transgenic construct containing the coding region of the EGFP gene and a 2.1kb sequence of the human growth hormone to confer high expression of the EGFP, under the control of the mouse insulin 1 gene promoter (a 8.5 kb region including -8.5 to +12 bp relative to the transcriptional start site) was injected into fertilized CD1 mouse eggs. Founder line 1 was subsequently established. Fluorescence is detected in tissues where insulin I is normally expressed; fluorescent protein expression in pancreatic beta-cells is evident from embryonic day (E)13.5 through adult.
