Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:131440

Linkage analysis was performed using 26 BXD (B=C57BL/6J; D=DBA/2J) recombinant inbred (RI) strains to identify QTLs associated with cocaine and amphetamine-regulated transcript (CART) peptides in the mouse hypothalamus. Male animals were used for this study and a panel of 975 microsatellite markers was used for the genome scan. Parental strain C57BL/6J displays increased amounts of CART transcripts compared to parental strain DBA/2J.

Significant linkage to CART transcript abundance mapped to 28 cM on mouse Chromosome 11 near D11Mit154 (LRS=21.1). This locus spans 20 cM to 36 cM and is named Crq1 (cocaine and amphetamine-regulated transcript QTL 1). DBA/2J-derived alleles at Crq1 confer increased transcript abundance in the hypothalamus. Potential candidate genes for Crq1 include Gabrb2 (28.6 cM), Glra1 (30 cM), and Gria1 (31 cM). Previously mapped QTLs located near Crq1 include Dautb3 (25 cM), Vmbic10 (24 cM), and Desp2 (21 cM).

A highly suggestive locus mapped to 58.2 cM on mouse Chromosome 4 near D4Mit249 (LRS=16.4), and is named Crq2 (cocaine and amphetamine-regulated transcript QTL 2). DBA/2J-derived alleles at Crq2 confer increased transcript abundance in the hypothalamus. Potential candidate genes near this QTL include Hcrtr1 and Txlna (59 cM).Alcw2 (40 cM) is a previously identified QTL located near Crq2.
