Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:134376

Linkage analysis was performed on previously constructed F2 cross between LG/J and SM/J (n=502) to identify imprinted QTL associated with postnatal growth. Experimental animals were phenotyped for body mass at 1 week intervals starting at postnatal day 7. Body mass was measured for a period of 10 weeks and a panel of 96 polymorphic markers was used for genome scan. Parental strain LG/J displays larger body size compared to parental strain SM/J.

A locus displaying linkage to maternally-imprinted postnatal growth with genome-wide significance mapped to mouse Chromosome 6 between D6Nds5 (46.3 cM) and D6Mit15 (74 cM). This locus is named Ipng1 (imprinted postnatal growth 1).

A maternally-imprinted locus for postnatal growth displaying chromosome-wide significance mapped to mouse Chromosome 10 between D10Mit133 (59 cM) and D10Mit14 (65 cM).This locus is named Ipng2 (imprinted postnatal growth 2).

Ipng3 (imprinted postnatal growth 3) displays linkage to maternally-imprinted postnatal growth. This locus is significant at the chromosome-wide level and maps to mouse Chromosome 16. The Ipng3 QTL interval is flanked by D16Mit2 (14.1 cM) and D16Mit5 (38 cM).

A fourth locus for postnatal growth mapped to mouse Chromosome 7 between D7Nds1 (37 cM) and D7Mit148 (46 cM). However, this QTL does not display imprinting and is named Png1 (postnatal growth 1).
