description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(MMTV-Erbb2*)NDL2-5Mul expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsA rat Erbb2 cDNA containing an activating mutation is expressed under the control of the MMTV LTR with SV40 polyadenylation and splicing signals. The activating mutation, derived from a clone isolated from mouse mammary tumor tissue, consists of a 5 codon in-frame deletion (neu8342) in the region encoding the extracellular region directly adjacent to the transmembrane domain. The major sites of expression of the transgene in female carriers include the mammary and salivary glands with lower levels detectable in lungs and ovaries. In male carriers, transgene expression is detectable in salivary gland and reproductive organs, with variable expression in mammary gland and lungs. (J:54661)
