Mutation detailsThis allele confers decreased beta-cell mass, impaired glucose tolerance, increased fasting blood glucose levels and decreased blood insulin in obese Lepob males on a CHOW diet compared to C57BL/6J. This allele confers increased blood glucose levels in lean males on a 13 week high fat diet compared to C57BL/J. This allele differs from Ildr2 by the presence of valine rather than alanine at amino acid residue 647 and the presence of alanine rather than threonine at amino acid residue 587. (J:138216)
