Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:147462Advanced intercross lines derived from LG/J and SM/J parental inbred strains at the F9 (n=150) and F10 (n=1305) generations were used to confirm and refine previously identified QTL (from F2-F3 generations) for long bone traits and identify novel geneticloci and interacting QTL. Animals were phenotyped between 12 and 40 weeks of age and genotyped at 1470 polymorphic SNP loci. The average distance between markers is 1.66 Mb. Long bone measurements were taken for the right-side tibia, femur, humerus and ulna. Eighty-one single-trait QTL were detected in this study, which includes 27 previously identified long bone loci. Thirteen novel pleiotropic loci were detected. On mouse Chromosome 1, Lbn1 was refined into two separate QTL. Lbn1a (long bones 1a) mapped to 43 cM near rs3715800 and is linked to ulna (LPR=15.07) and tibia lengths (LPR=20.38). Lbn1b (long bones 1b) mapped to 57 cM near rs3664800 and is linked to humerus (LPR=4.98), tibia (LPR=19.69), ulna (LPR=14.2) and femur (LPR=6.3) lengths. A novel proximal locus named Lbn1c (long bones 1c) mapped to 5 cM near rs3681537. Lbn1c shows linkage to humerus (LPR=3.94), femur (LPR=6.38) and tibia (LPR=3.74) lengths.J:150240QTLs for long bone length were mapped in F2 and F3 generations of an intercross of LG/J and SM/J mice. LG/J mice were selected for large body size (~40 g) at 60 days and SM/J mice were selected for small body size (~20 g) at 60 days. There were 506 F2 Mice and 1605 F3 mice..
