Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:147462Advanced intercross lines derived from LG/J and SM/J parental inbred strains at the F9 (n=150) and F10 (n=1305) generations were used to confirm and refine previously identified QTL (from F2-F3 generations) for long bone traits and identify novel geneticloci and interacting QTL. Animals were phenotyped between 12 and 40 weeks of age and genotyped at 1470 polymorphic SNP loci. The average distance between markers is 1.66 Mb. Long bone measurements were taken for the right-side tibia, femur, humerus and ulna. Eighty-one single-trait QTL were detected in this study, which includes 27 previously identified long bone loci. Thirteen novel pleiotropic loci were detected. Lbn10 on mouse Chromosome 17 was detected in this study near rs3090988 (25.3 cM). This locus is reassigned Lbn10a (long bones 10a) and displays linkage to femur (LPR=16.55), tibia (LPR=20.77) and ulna (LPR=5.52) lengths. Linkage to tibia length at Lbn10a is significantly greater in females compared to males. A proximal locus displaying linkage to humerus (LPR=10.44), ulna (LPR=22.46), tibia (LPR=14.08) and femur (LPR=14.04) lengths mapped to 7 cM near rs13482875. This locus is named Lbn10b (long bones 10b).J:150240QTLs for long bone length were mappedin F2 and F3 generations of an intercross of LG/J and SM/J mice. LG/J mice were selected for large body size (~40 g) at 60 days and SM/J mice were selected for small body size (~20 g) at 60 days. There were 506 F2 Mice and 1605 F3 mice..
