Mutation
origin
Mutant Cell Line:  RRR178
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:156653
Parent Cell Line:  Other (see notes) (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129P2/OlaHsd
Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Gene trapped (Hypomorph, Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion of gene trap vector     Vector: pGT0Lxf     Vector Type: gene trap

Mutation detailsInsertion of a beta-gal and neo cassette within 6174 bases 3' of the beginning of intron 3 of Vrk1. The predicted product only contains the N-terminal 72 amino acids fused with beta-gal and is catalytically inert. However, RT-PCR demonstrated only a 4.5- to 6.4-fold decrease in full length message in various adult tissues, confirmed by immunoblots, indicating this is a hypomorphic allele. (J:156653)

Notes
All BayGenomics gene trap mutations were generated in either CGR8 or E14TG2a (129P2/OlaHsd) parental ES cell lines, with the majority in subline E14TG2a.4. The specific ES cell line in which each mutation was made is not specified.
