Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Recombinase)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Pomc-cre)5Brn expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsThis transgene contains 706 base pairs of 5' flanking sequence containing the promoter of the rat pro-opiomelanocortin gene followed by the coding sequence for Cre recombinase with an amino-terminal nuclear localization signal (nlsCre), a synthetic intron, and SV40 splice and polyadenylation signals. Progeny of mice bearing this transgene crossed to lacZ Cre reporter mice exhibited large numbers of X-gal staining cells in the intermediate lobe and lesser staining in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.
