Mutation details: The nls-cre (nuclear localization sequence-cre) polyA cassette was inserted immediately upstream of the translation initiation site in an 11.7 kb S100b promoter-containing genomic sequence (-5387/+6357). This targeting construct was microinjected into pronuclei of fertilized C57BL/6 embryos. Six lines were generated, four of which showed similar recombination patterns in the adult brain when crossed to transgenic reporter mice. Line 20 (Tg20) displayed no recombination in the heart, lung, kidney, spleen, skeletal muscle, and blood vessel and partial recombination in skin and liver.
