Mutation details: The human alpha skeletal muscle actin (ACTA1) promoter was used to drive expression of cre recombinase in a transgenic construct. The construct was injected into C57BL/6 zygotes. 14 founders were generated, and two lines were characterized further. Lines A and B were analyzed. Cre expression was observed in skeletal muscle as well as in the heart, with line A exhibiting 40% of the level of cre mRNA detected in skeletal muscle, and line B showing 0.1% of skeletal muscle cre mRNA levels in the heart muscle.
