Mutation details: Exon 2 was replaced with a floxed neo cassette via homologous recombination. An alternatively spliced mRNA encoding for a protein lacking the importin beta-binding domain is produced. Only a truncated non-functional protein is found in homozygous mutant testes and mRNA levels are strongly decreased as transcription from testis-specific exon 1A does not occur.
