Mutation details: A recA-mediated recombination protocol in E.coli replaced the open reading frame of Atoh7 with a cre recombinase cassette with a nuclear localization signal (nls) and a polyA signal in the Atoh7-containing BAC RP23-38P3. The purified, linearized BAC construct was injected itno fertilized (SJL x C57BL/6J)F2 oocytes. 9 founders were obtained. Lines 872 and 360 were established and crossed to Z/AP reporter mice to assess cre activity. Line 360 was utilized in subsequent experiments.
